Annual Charity Golf Tournament Records Third Consecutive Ticket Sellout for Event to be Held Monday, April 14th at The Dye Club at Barefoot Resort
April 8, 2008, North Myrtle Beach, S.C. - The list of celebrities and PGA professionals scheduled to play in the 2008 Hootie & The Blowfish Monday after The Masters Celebrity Golf Tournament continues to grow as more participants were announced today.
Monday After the Masters Tournament officials also announced today that all 6,000 tickets have been sold, marking the third consecutive sellout in tournament history. Children 12 years of age and younger will be admitted free but must pick up a complimentary ticket on the day of the event from the Barefoot Landing general parking area, near the Alabama Theater. All minors must be escorted by an adult who previously purchased a ticket before the day of the tournament.
All ticket proceeds benefit the Hootie & The Blowfish Foundation, which supports the educational needs of children in South Carolina and the South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation. Last year, the tournament raised $456,000 for the charities.
From the sports world, former NFL players Derek Anderson, Vencie Glenn, Jim McMahon, George Rogers, Gale Sayers, Sterling Sharpe and Kordell Stewart will participate, along with NFL analyst Paul McGuire. Former Major League Baseball stars Chuck Finley, Eric Karros and Mickey Tettleton will also participate.
R&B singer Javier; pop rock performer Edwin McCain; musician Branford Marsalis; Alter Bridge drummer Scott Phillips; country singers Steve Azar and Johnny Lee; singer/songwriter Samantha Cole; Andrew Copeland of Sister Hazel and Dan Tyminski of Union Station are scheduled to participate.
Actors participating in the 2008 Monday After The Masters include Gary Valentine of "King of Queens"; Kevin Sorbo of "Hercules"; Anthony Anderson from "The Departed" and Lucas Black of "Friday Night Lights" and "Jarhead." Comedian Jackie Young will make his first Monday After The Masters appearance.
The professional golf field is once again loaded with talent including Ricky Barnes, Josh Broadaway, Jason Caron, Kris Cox, Todd Demsey, Lee Elder, Nick Flanagan, Robert Gamez, Brian Gay, Ryan Howison, Billy Kratzert, Cliff Kresge, Mark Lye, Steve Marino, Jim McGovern, David Mobley, Tim O'Neal, Pat Perez, D.A. Points, Larry Rinker, Lee Rinker, Mike Sposa, Kevin Streelman, Marc Turnesa, Grant Waite and three-time world long drive champion Sean "The Beast" Fister will participate. Coastal Carolina University graduate and new PGA TOUR member Dustin Johnson and Clemson University graduate D.J. Trahan will provide the South Carolina connections to the 2008 Monday After the Masters Tournament.
Celebrities, musicians and athletes previously announced as competing in the 14th annual charity tournament include Annika Sorenstam, John Daly, Woody Austin, Jim Thorpe, Laura Davies, NFL Hall of Famer Dan Marino, and from the new GOLF CHANNEL golf reality show, Road Trip: Myrtle Beach, singer-songwriter Josh Kelley, ESPN commentator Charlie Rymer and Duramed FUTURES TOUR golfer Perry Swenson.
